Operators would like to use perpetual inventory values for the monthly count. They would also like to make the monthly count process quicker.

In an effort to simplify the counting process, we’d like to implement the option to use the perpetual inventory on hand values at the time the count is created as a “suggested count” feature. We’d like this to function similarly to suggested ordering where the values are prepopulated upon opening the ordering screen. However, we’d like to make this a secondary action to performing a manual count. Instead of opening the page and seeing the perpetual values at the time the count was created immediately, we’d like this option to live under the Actions dropdown on the count screen. The option ideally would be called “Auto-Populate Count”, or something along those lines. When selected, the inventory numbers at that time will then be added to the count fields for all items. The user will then have the option to correct items they need to correct or use the perpetual values for items that deplete more slowly, don’t need to be counted as often, or aren’t as material to the financial statements at the end of the month (sugar packets, coffee stirrers, etc). The user would then have to submit the count as they do today with a manually entered count, following all the same steps.

To deal with negative on hand values, we'd like a message box to pop up upon selecting the Auto Populate Count button with all the items with a negative on hand. This should force the user to enter a positive value for the item with a negative perpetual on hand before submitting the count.

We also request that this feature be piloted with a select number of Suggested Ordering stores first.
